In My Feelings: 4‑Week Study on Emotions

God created us as emotional beings, but feelings can be overwhelming or confusing. This series teaches students to see their emotions through the lens of the gospel. Over four weeks they’ll explore peace, anxiety, anger, and joy in Scripture and discover how the Good News transforms their responses.

Series Overview

  • Week 1 – Peace in Peaceless Situations (Philippians 4:4‑7) – Emotions are not a goad or a guide, but a gauge. Students will learn that the God who conquered sin can also bring peace when their feelings are out of control.
  • Week 2 – Power Over Anxiety (Matthew 13:22) – Anxiety can choke out our faith. Jesus shows us that the Good News is good enough right now. When we trust that God is present in our present, anxiety loses its grip.
  • Week 3 – Anger That Leads to Redemption (Jonah 4:1‑3) – Anger reveals what we care about most. Students will see that when we care about God’s redemption more than ourselves, our anger can fuel hope and restoration.
  • Week 4 – Joy in Becoming Like Jesus (James 1:2‑3) – Happiness is fleeting, but joy is found in the process of becoming like Christ. Students will understand that Jesus died to save them from sin, not from difficulty, and that Christ‑likeness brings joy even in hard times.
