Series Summary

Life is loud. Between school, family drama, packed schedules, mental health struggles, and relational conflict, it can feel nearly impossible for students to sense God’s presence in their everyday lives. The Muted Retreat Series helps turn down the noise and create space to hear His voice. Across four sessions drawn from the life of Saul and David, students discover how to pursue God’s heart, lean on His people, remember His faithfulness, and see others the way God sees them. Each message blends humor, story, and Scripture into a gospel-centered framework that helps students walk away with real peace in the middle of chaos.

Session Overviews

Session 1: Create Sacred Spaces to Pursue God’s Heart (1 Samuel 13:1, 8–14)

King Saul caved under pressure, letting the noise of chaos drown out obedience. Students learn that peace comes when we carve out sacred spaces to pursue God’s heart instead of trying to fix life on our own.

Session 2: Create Sacred Spaces for God’s People (1 Samuel 16:13–18, 23)

When Saul couldn’t feel God’s presence, he found relief through David’s worship. Sometimes, when God feels distant, leaning on His people helps us turn down the volume of despair. Students will see the value of surrounding themselves with friends who can carry them into God’s presence.

Session 3: Create Sacred Space to Remember God’s Faithfulness (1 Samuel 17:34–37)

David’s confidence against Goliath wasn’t reckless—it was rooted in remembering God’s past faithfulness. Students learn to reflect on what God has already done so they can face future fears with courage.

Session 4: Create Sacred Spaces to See Others as God Sees Them (1 Samuel 24:1–12)

David had the chance to take revenge on Saul but chose mercy because he viewed Saul through God’s eyes. Students discover that when they elevate God’s grace above others’ offenses, they can respond with peace instead of retaliation.
