Shaded: 4‑Week Introduction to the Gospel Lens

Without a clear understanding of the gospel, students build their faith on shifting sand. Shaded is a four‑week youth ministry curriculum that introduces the gospel lens — a way of viewing yourself, others and the world through the finished work of Jesus. This series clarifies faith, simplifies discipleship and amplifies your reach by teaching students how to apply the gospel to every part of life. It’s ideal for onboarding new students or volunteers or kicking off a season focused on the essentials of Christianity.

Series Overview

Shaded helps students put on “gospel glasses” so they can see themselves and the world as God does. Each week unpacks another facet of the good news and includes engaging messages and hard-hitting discussion questions that anchor the message in everyday life.

What Students Will Learn

  • Week 1 – Our Need for a Savior (Romans 3:23–24): Students explore God’s holiness and human sinfulness, acknowledging their need for grace and realizing that the gospel starts with honesty about brokenness.
  • Week 2 – Jesus, the Good News (1 Corinthians 15:3–4): Your group examines Jesus’ life, death and resurrection and discusses why salvation is based on grace rather than performance.
  • Week 3 – Identity, Purpose and Relationships (Galatians 2:20): Students discover how the gospel redefines who they are, what they’re called to do and how they treat others. They rewrite negative self‑talk into gospel truths.
  • Week 4 – Living on Mission (Matthew 28:18–20): The final week turns outward as students see mission as a natural response to receiving grace. They brainstorm creative ways to share the gospel through social media, acts of service and conversations with friends.
