Whether students realize it or not, they walk around wearing labels that say “Hello, my name is ___,” and too often what fills in the blank is a toxic lie. Those negative labels shape how they operate and how they treat others. This series helps students replace those old, unhealthy labels with gospel‑inspired labels that are true of them in Christ.
Negative labels (“stupid,” “worthless,” “mistake,” etc.) that divide and misrepresent them, leading to walls, poor decisions, and unhealthy ways of relating.
Shame that grows out of guilt and starts defining identity (“Hello, my name is Mistake”), straining relationships and confidence.
Lasting wounds from words and experiences that fester when left unaddressed and begin to define who they are.
Feeling captive to sin—it controls actions, fills the heart and mind, and seems impossible to escape on their own.
Across four weeks, students trade false labels for biblical identity: Child of God, Forgiven, Healed, and Free—and see how each truth reshapes daily life and relationships.
The Point: You are a child of God.
Scripture: John 1:12 (NIV)
Summary: Those who believe in Jesus are treated as sons and daughters—you don’t have to try to be God’s child; in Christ, you already are.
The Point: You are forgiven.
Scripture: 1 John 1:9 (NIV)
Summary: When we confess, God—who is faithful and just—forgives and purifies us from all unrighteousness, breaking shame’s hold.
The Point: You are healed.
Scripture: Isaiah 53:5 (NIV)
Summary: By Jesus’ wounds we are healed—a truth that grows faith, brings freedom, and makes us living proof of God’s character.
The Point: You are free.
Scripture: Romans 6:6–7 (NIV)
Summary: Our old self was crucified with Christ so we are no longer slaves to sin—free to live, serve, and love.
