There For You Series: 3-Week Youth Study on Friendship

Friendship is one of the most important parts of a teenager’s life. Students spend hours texting, hanging out, and navigating the ups and downs of friend groups. But as meaningful as friendships can be, they are also messy. Cliques form, drama erupts, feelings get hurt, and selfishness sneaks in. If students don’t have a gospel-centered perspective, they’ll either settle for shallow connections or let unhealthy patterns define their closest relationships.

There For You is a 3-week youth ministry curriculum that helps students view friendship through the lens of the gospel. Instead of approaching relationships the way culture tells them to, teens will discover how God’s Kingdom values diversity, how Jesus models love in friendship, and how to navigate drama in healthy, Christ-centered ways. This series equips students not only to choose good friends but to be good friends — reflecting the love, grace, and wisdom of Christ in their everyday lives.

Series Overview

This series takes students into the heart of what gospel-shaped friendship looks like. In Week 1, they’ll see that the Kingdom of God is beautifully diverse — and their friend groups can reflect that same Kingdom diversity. In Week 2, they’ll explore how Jesus treated His friends with compassion, empathy, and patience, offering a model for how they can love others the way God loves them. And in Week 3, they’ll dive into one of the most common struggles students face — friend drama — and learn how to handle it by listening, speaking wisely, and extending invitations to reconciliation.

By reframing friendship through Scripture, students will begin to see that friendships aren’t just about convenience, shared interests, or avoiding loneliness. They’re about reflecting God’s Kingdom, God’s love, and God’s wisdom in the way we treat each other.
