YOUTH GROUP LESSONS ON CALLING

Spleck is a four week youth ministry series on God's calling

Why This Topic Matters

Teenagers are constantly asked about what they want to do with their life. It comes up in every conversation with every adult pretty much all the time. As youth leaders, we know it can be an overwhelming question for a kid to know how to answer. That’s part of the reason a series on God’s calling could be so helpful in your ministry.

In the Spleck series, you won’t focus so much on the specifics of what students want to do with their lives. Instead, you’ll spend four weeks unpacking how a gospel lens leads each and every one of us to say yes, with confidence, to whatever it is God has in store for our present and our future.

If you want your students to follow Jesus boldly no matter the cost, Spleck is a fantastic series of lessons to teach in your youth group.

What Students Are Facing Right Now

  • Anxiety over their future
  • An increasingly difficult culture to navigate as a believer
  • Worries over what others will say if they live for Jesus
  • Quiet bitterness toward the enemies they’ve made along the way

How This Series Helps

Spleck helps your students reframe what God wants to do with their future. Yes, being successful is good. But following Jesus into whatever adventure He has is the first priority. That adventure could involve starting a club, going to a four-year school, or trying out for the soccer team. But that adventure could also mean sitting with the new kid at the lunch table or trying to reconcile with someone they’ve hurt.

Series Overview

Week 1 – Jesus First (Acts 1:6-8)

It’s nerve wracking to face the prospect of answering God’s call on this next season of life. But Jesus went first in answering an uncomfortable call on His life.

Week 2 – Not Alone (Luke 3:21-22)

One of the hardest parts about saying yes to something difficult God asks of you is it feels like you’re alone in it. But Jesus is with you in the midst of the hard, confusing, and difficult.

Week 3 – Them (Acts 10)

There’s always a “them” to look out for. But it’s entirely possible that the “road” God is calling you to cross is the road to them. Because “them” aren’t so different from you when you don a gospel perspective.

Week 4 – Overshadowed (Matthew 27:45)

When you cross the road God calls you to cross, it may not end up the way you want or expect. But even if that ends up being the case, Jesus secured your heavenly acceptance.
