Youth Group Lessons on Dating

Base Camp is a 4 week youth group lesson on dating

Why This Topic Matters

Dating can be confusing, overwhelming, and at times even destructive. Students often feel lost trying to navigate relationships, boundaries, and expectations. Without a clear foundation, dating becomes a chaotic climb that often ends in regret.

The Base Camp series grounds students in a gospel-centered perspective of dating: marriage is a reflection of God’s love for His people. By starting from that “base camp,” students can approach dating with wisdom, clarity, and the right goal in mind.

What Students Are Facing Right Now

  • Students are bombarded with cultural confusion and conflicting definitions of dating.

  • Many are looking for validation and worth through relationships instead of in Christ.

  • Peer pressure often pushes them toward unhealthy or rushed dating choices.

  • Boundaries around romance and sex are unclear or ignored.

  • They fear being alone and often equate dating with identity or value.

How This Series Helps

Base Camp equips students with a gospel lens for relationships. Each week teaches them that romance reflects God’s love, that the “right person” should love Jesus more than them, that marriage is worth the lifelong work, and that Jesus alone is enough even if they never marry.

Series Overview

  • Week 1 – Romance is a Reflection – Dating isn’t about completing yourself. It’s meant to reflect Christ’s love for His Church (Ephesians 5:31‑32).
  • Week 2 – The Right Person – God cares more about who you become than who you date (2 Corinthians 6:14).
  • Week 3 – Love Is Hard Work – Real love is patient, kind and self‑sacrificing (1 Corinthians 13:4‑7).
  • Week 4 – Complete in Christ – Your worth isn’t found in a boyfriend or girlfriend; you are complete in Christ (Genesis 1:28; 1 Corinthians 7:32‑35).

Why Choose Base Camp?

  • Gospel‑Centered – Students learn to root their identity in Christ, not in their dating status.
  • Honest & Practical – Tackles tough topics like purity and breakups with truth and grace.
  • Leader‑Friendly – Comes with everything your team needs to facilitate meaningful discussions.
