Mirage Series: 4-Week Curriculum + Discipleship Event on Lies We Believe

In a world where lies look like truth, students need more than clichés and good vibes. Mirage Series helps teenagers identify the deceptions they’re tempted to believe and replace them with the gospel truth that Christ is first in all things. Over four weeks and a culminating Truth Quest event, students confront specific lies, build their identity on Jesus, and discover freedom through His love.

Series Overview

• Week 1 – Normal Begins with Jesus (Colossians 1:17‑21) – We live in a world where our definition of “normal” can be a mirage. Students test “mirage or truth” statements and learn that Jesus holds all things together. True normal starts with Him.
• Week 2 – Shame Has No Place in Front of Your Face (Colossians 1:22) – Students write shame-based lies on a mirror and discover that Jesus’ sacrifice presents them holy and blameless. There’s no room for shame when you stand in Christ.
• Week 3 – Remember Why the Good News Is Good News to You (Colossians 1:23) – After listing things they’re passionate about, students explore how the gospel is the ultimate good news. Anchoring their identity in Christ keeps them grounded when lies come.
• Week 4 – In Christ, Your Pain Has Purpose (Colossians 1:24) – Life can hurt, but in Jesus our suffering isn’t wasted. Students learn that their pain has purpose when joined to Christ and can be used to encourage others.
• Truth Quest Event – Write Letters to Your Future Self – The series wraps up with an interactive discipleship event. Students write “truth letters” to their future selves, reflecting on what they’ve learned and committing to live by truth.
